As early as Kindergarten, students are introduced to the concept of copyright to build a foundation of understanding the ethical access and use of information. Below is a sample slide show of the progression across grade levels our students use for organizing information from multiple resources and crediting their sources of information. We start off with a simple format and progress to standard citation formats to prepare our students to ethically use information. Students build understanding of the concepts of fair use and intellectual property through the integration of ITES (Information and Technology Essential Standards) into content area instruction. Below are a fill in the block resource lists (print and digital) our students use during research. We have found the format to be extremely helpful for students to practice the process of citing resources.
